Read it - Share it

"Books are the legacies that a great genius leaves to mankind which are shared and delivered down from generation to generation as presents to the posterity of those who are yet unborn"
When u read this quote above its apparent that Donating a book once read is the best source to exchange knowledge.
"Read it share it" is our long term community service project where we collect books from the club members and also from the public who are willing to donate. After collecting these books we donate them to public libraries, schools, universities and various other educational institutions who are in a essential need for books. Through this, these books will go to the hands of many and knowledge will be shared.
We have planned to carry out this project in number of phases and the 1st phase was successfully completed.Where we collected 350 English medium books and  donated all these books to the "Holy Angels Girls' Collage' situated in Kuliyapitiya. Books were donated to the sister principal and the books were later deposited in the library of the convent where the students could "Read it and share it"!. were donated to the sister principal and the books were later deposited in the library of the convent where the students could "Read it and share it"!.

The 2nd phase was carried out on the 08th of September 2012. After collecting 250 English and Sinhala books which consisted of books from the members and also more than 50 books donated to us by the public.

we donated them to the Kadawalgedara "Sanasa library" which is a public library. We were warmly welcomed by the members from the "Sanasa" society afterwards a few speeches were done by the members of our club and the 'sanasa" socitey and after the donation we were presented with refreshments and also we got a lot of positive feedback from the members of the "Sanasa' society ,some small kids didn't forget to show their gratitude through a amazing piece of written work.with the successful completion of the second phase our utmost objective was once again fulfilled as they could "Read it Share it"

Currently we are planning on our 3rd phase which is also another humongous donation of medical books to the medical faculty of the "University of Peradeniya". Up to now we have already collected almost 200 medical books all related to medical education.
Our main aim is to carry out numerous number of phases to donate books and make maximum use of a book by reading it and sharing it,So we are planning to continue our "Read it Share it" project for a foreseeable future to enlighten and widen knowledge as much as we could.

Meditation Books Donation Program

"Plant the seed of meditation and reap the fruit of peace of mind."

Another community service project organized and hosted by the Rotaract club of Kuliyapitiya is the "Meditation Book Donation program". As we received about 200 meditation books related to a special way of meditation taught in Buddhism called "Kaye Kathawa" by our own Mrs. Dammika Herath, the beloved mother of our president Rtr. Anuja Madushan.
we immediately planned to donate this book to devotees interested in meditation. For this purpose we chose the "Diyakalamulla sripathi pirivena" which is a known place for its unique meditation programs. After negotiating with the chief monk we decided on a date to donate the books.
As scheduled on the 08th of August we all gathered ad arrived at the temple at 10.00 a.m and then met the chief monk and donated a book to the chief monk initially afterwards we were directed to the meditation hall where a meditation program was being carried out where we explained our project to the monk who was leading the program and donated a book to him and donated the rest of the books to the hundreds of devotees attending the program.

Our project came to an end at 11.30 a.m and it was successful as we could once again help the community by some mean by performing this humongous meritorious cause.
We would like to convey our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Dammika Senadeera, the beloved mother of our president for giving us this valuable source.
